Speaker's Corner
District Governor, Margie Kersey
Jason described Margie Kersey as 'Mrs. Rotary'. Margie is a charter member of the Lake Spivey Rotary Club and she later moved to the Stone Mountain Club.
During her talk, Margie focused on the them that 'Rotary Changes the World'
'Because of you, people have clean drinking water and sanitation, kids know that literacy is important, people have roofs over their heads, and there has been only one case of polio this year in India'.
Margie described the 2011-2012 RI logo of 'Reaching within to embrace humanity'. The first heart on the logo is for family, the second is for continuity, and the thrid heart is for change--are we doing the right things for the people who need us most?
She mentioned that we must evolve as Rotarians and ensure that our projects evolve as the world evolves around us.
Millions of Rotarians donate billions of dollars to help eradicate polio, which will be only the second disease to be eradicated.
DG Margie encouraged us each to:
- Plant one tree for every member in the club.
- Consider giving to CART (Coin Alzheimer Research trust).
- Have fun! and attend the District Conference in Sandestin next April. There are prizes for early registrations!
