Jerry S. Wilson: Senior VP of The Coca Cola Company

Jerry S. Wilson is a board elected senior vice president of The Coca-Cola Company, where he currently serves as Chief Customer and Commercial Officer. In this role he leads a global organization that is responsible for crafting and executing the company’s customer and commercial leadership strategy and agenda. He and his team lead the Company’s global system in building mutually beneficial customer relationships across all key channels, with a focus on best-in-class innovation, retail execution, consumer and shopper marketing, and revenue growth management.
Prior to this increased responsibility, Jerry served as President of the Global McDonald’s Division where he led a worldwide organization responsible for growing this important business alliance in 118 countries representing over 31,000 restaurants that served 58 million consumers a day.
During his twenty-one years with Coca-Cola, Jerry has risen from an area account executive, to regional management, to strategic brand and planning director, to vice president of the western USA foodservice business. Within The McDonald’s Division he has served as vice president of USA Operations and global Chief Operating Officer before being named operating President. He has distinguished himself as an inclusive leader who is committed to developing people, enhancing strategic alliances and driving innovative growth platforms.
Before his career with Coke, Jerry spent over eight years with Volkswagen of America where he held a variety of positions. He joined the company as a distribution analyst, moved up to district sales manager, and then was developed through business management, sales training, marketing management and franchise management responsibilities. Jerry was then promoted to brand manager for the USA, where he was responsible for developing strategies while liaising with the franchise leadership and company worldwide headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Prior to joining Volkswagen, Jerry gained invaluable retail experience by leading a fleet sales department of a nationally recognized Ford agency.
He earned his MBA in Marketing from Mercer University and his BA in Economics from the University of Georgia.
Jerry is a noted speaker and co-author of the book, Managing Brand YOU-7 Steps to Creating Your Most Successful Self.
Jerry is happily married to his best friend Ginny and they have a daughter, Abby, who recently graduated from University of Georgia.

Police Chief John F. King

Police Chief John F. King began his employment with the City of Doraville in 1993 as a Detective. Prior to that he was an Atlanta police officer beginning his career there in 1985 as a police recruit. While at the Atlanta Police Department, Chief King worked assignments including Red Dog and Organized Crime/Intelligence. His career also includes assignments to both the FBI and DEA as a Task Force Agent. In 1987, while at the Atlanta Police Department, Chief King received the Chief’s Blue Star for being injured in the line of duty as a result of criminal attack with a firearm.
A native of Mexico, King has created meaningful impact by building bridges among Doraville’s diverse populations and implementing youth education and crime-prevention programs. King made it a priority to hire bilingual police officers, place multiple languages on police cars, and ensure a bilingual judge was employed at the City Courthouse.
Chief King’s initiatives include Anti-Gang education programs for elementary school students and parents. He worked with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to establish an education program for prospective small business entrepreneurs and worked with state, county and local leaders to implement a safety and speed reduction program targeted on Buford Highway to reduce the number of pedestrian fatalities. He is a member of Leadership DeKalb.
In addition to his role as Doraville’s Chief of Police, King serves as a colonel in the U.S. Army and recently led operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served as the Military Advisory to the Deputy Minister of Interior for Security for Afghanistan, an agency of over 96,000 police officers. He has won many awards for military and public services including the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantry Badge, meritorious service medals, and a NATO award for his service in both Bosnia and Afghanistan, among others. He also received the El Salvador gold medal for achievement in 2006.
King received his Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and public administration from Brenau University. He was a graduate of class #229 in the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and a graduate of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange program to Israel (GILEE). He is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College with the United States Army.

Deputy Director of Zoo Atlanta: Dwight Lawson

Dwight P. Lawson, Ph.D. is the Deputy Director of Zoo Atlanta, overseeing the animal and plant collections; the Zoo’s Education, Research and Conversation programs; and the Marketing and Development departments. Prior to this position, Dwight was most recently Zoo Atlanta’s Senior Vice President of Collections, Education, and Conservation.
He is an Adjunct Professor of Biology at Georgia State University where he regularly teaches. He also serves as the Vice President of The Turtle Survival Alliance.
Before joining Zoo Atlanta, Dwight worked as an Associate Research Scientist for The Wildlife Conservation Society where he directed a community-based wildlife conservation project in southwestern Cameroon, Africa. He has also served as Biological Curator and Live Collections Manager for the herpetological collection at The University of Texas at Arlington Collection of Vertebrates, and as an Environmental Scientist for Stone and Webster Environmental Services in Boston.
Dwight received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Master of Science in Biology and a Ph.D. in Quantitative Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington where he specialized in the taxonomy and ecology of African amphibians and reptiles.
He is married to Zoo Atlanta’s Curator of Carnivores, Dr. Rebecca Snyder. They have a daughter Rory, born February 2, 2009.
